Veggie Turmeric Bone Broth

Full disclosure, I’m not a soup person. However, this soup is an exception! It’s the perfect go-to recipe when you’re needing a reset and packed with inflammation-fighting ingredients. That’s one reason why this recipe is part of my easy 1 day detox. It’s hearty, tasty and your body will thank you!

Made with bone broth, turmeric, ginger and loads of veggies.

Bone broth has an incredible concentration of both collagen and other powerful amino acids. This is what makes bone broth known for:

  • Fighting inflammation
  • Promoting a healthy gut and proper digestion
  • Working wonders on hair, skin and nails
  • Promoting healthy joints
  • Boosting the immune system

What’s the difference between generic broth, stock and bone broth?

Bone broth is simmered for much longer. This length of time is why bone broth is much more nutrient dense. Also, typical store-bought stocks and broths are often made with low-quality ingredients and additives. High-quality bone broth is simmered anywhere from 12-48 hours and made from 100% real animal bones (beef, turkey or chicken), ideally grass-fed and contains no sketchy ingredients.

No time to make your own bone broth? Me either. My favorite brand is Bonafide Provisions. I buy mine at either Whole Foods or Sprouts in the frozen section. Trader Jo’s now sells organic beef or chicken bone broth, too! If you can’t find bone broth in your area, a high-quality stock works great too! Just make sure you’re buying an organic version without any unnecessary additives.


Turmeric is probably the most infamous medicinal herb out there. According to this study, “the activities of turmeric include antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antioxidant, antiseptic, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, radioprotective, and digestive activities.” Wowza. The only downside to turmeric is it can stain very easily so be careful with clothing, countertops etc.


Like turmeric, ginger also has a long history (like thousands of years long) of treating all kinds of conditions and symptoms. This study titled, The Amazing and Mighty Ginger, references ginger as a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, anti-carcinogenic and protective against cardiovascular diseases. Mighty indeed!!

I make this recipe all the time, especially if I’m not feeling 100% or needing to recoup after a big weekend. If there were ever a reason to make soup- this it it. It is so good and will make you feel like a new human!


Veggie Tumeric Bone Broth

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes
Servings 4 people


  • 32 oz Bone broth Any kind of bone broth is fine!
  • 2 cups Carrots, chopped
  • 1 cup Celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch Ginger root, minced
  • 1 inch Turmeric root, minced
  • 1.5 cup Cauliflower florets
  • 1/3 cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 3 Avocados, sliced
  • 1 Rotisserie chicken, shredded I like to buy this pre-made at the store to save time but you can also bake your own chicken.


  1. Prepare and cut all ingredients

  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of avocado or coconut oil in a large pot or dutch oven. Add garlic and ginger, stirring for ~30 seconds

  3. Add in Turmeric, Cauliflower, Carrots and Celery with 1/3 cup of water. Cover and let steam until veggies are cooked through and all water has evaporated

  4. Add in bone broth and bring to simmer

  5. Add in chicken and cilantro just before serving, stirring until evenly heated. Be careful not to add chicken in too early as it may dry out. 

  6. Garnish with avocado
